What is a book proposal?
It’s everything an agent needs to know to sell it to a publisher, and an amuse-bouche for a publisher about what your book can do for them—a roadmap of you and your book, where it fits in the market, who will read it (who did you set out to help), and how it can help them.
There are different styles and formats for book proposals, but they all have the same main sections:
A hook to entice the agent and publisher
A market analysis of both your ideal reader and comparable books
An introduction to you and why you’re the one who can write this book
Your personal marketing plan—the publisher needs to know you’re going to put in some work to move the book if they’re going to take a chance on you.

Typically, people will write proposals to obtain an advance to carry them through the writing of the book; however, if you’ve already written the book and are just now looking at publishing paths, you still need one to get an agent and a publisher. You’ve simply done the hard part first.
Whether you have the seed of an idea you’d like to sell and then write the book or you’ve written the book and now want to get it published, I can write an enticing proposal to launch your project to the next step.
